Frequently Asked Questions
General
What should I wear?
For Therapeutic Facial or Back, Neck and Shoulder Swedish Massage, you will be asked, in privacy, to remove your upper outer clothes.
For Full Body Swedish, you will be asked, in privacy, to remove all your outer clothes.
During the massage you will be covered at all times, except for the area being worked on. Should you feel uncomfortable with this, please let me know and we can work round this.
Keeping in mind the need to disrobe, you are free to wear whatever is most comfortable for you.
For winter months, I would advise to make sure you have a nice warm coat and scarf for after your treatment, to keep warm and your muscles relaxed.
Do you offer Pregnancy Massage?
I currently do not offer this type of massage, but may look to add this type of treatment in the future.
Can I talk during a treatment?
I don’t mind if you wish to chat, and obviously tell me if anything is uncomfortable during your treatment.
However, it will be more relaxing if you can switch off and fully unwind. During your treatment, I will check in with you now and again to make sure you are comfortable.
Are treatments confidential?
Yes. Every part of your consultation and treatment are completely confidential. Any notes made are kept secure and are not passed onto anyone else.
Therapeutic Facial Massage
What to expect?
If you are a new client, then a small consultation will be carried out before any treatment. This is to ascertain if you have any underlying medical conditions or problem areas, such as eczema. This consultation will take approximately 10 minutes and is free!
You will be asked to remove your clothes from your upper half and to lie face-up on the massage table, covering yourself with the towel and blanket provided.
Relaxing music will be played to help you unwind.
Each facial will be tailored to you skin type, but will include a cleanse, tone and an exfoliation. This is followed by a facial massage and pressure point therapy, a cooling sheet mask and relaxing scalp massage. To finish, a soothing Vitamin C serum, moisturiser and SPF are gently massaged into the skin.
How often can I have a Massage?
You can have a Therapeutic Facial Massage as frequently as you like, but I would recommend fortnightly to monthly as a regular relaxing treatment.
Regular treatments are especially beneficial during the winter months when our skin can feel dry.
Swedish Massage
What to expect?
If you are a new client, then a full consultation will be carried out before any treatment, unless this has been carried out online beforehand. This is to ascertain if you have any underlying medical conditions, injuries or problem areas. The consultation will take approximately 20-30 minutes and is free!
A full body massage usually takes 60 minutes or 75 minutes if including the abdomen.
Intimate parts are never touched unless some lower back work is required, then the glutes (buttocks) may be touched.
You will be given time to undress down to your underwear, in private, and you will lie face down on the massage table covering yourself with the towel/blanket.
Relaxing music will be played to help you unwind.
Grapeseed oil is applied to the skin to facilitate massage and you will be covered at all times apart from the area being worked on.
Can anyone have a Swedish Massage?
Swedish Massage is a very safe and beneficial treatment for anyone, no matter their age or gender.
During you initial consultation I will check your medical history before any treatment. There are some conditions that may make treatment unsuitable or require your doctors consent.
For example:
Cancer, fever, contagious disease, fluctuating blood pressure, osteoporosis, drug or alcohol abuse, flare up of eczema, recent surgeries, heart conditions, mesh implants/hernia repair or pregnancy.
If you are unsure, and wish to check before your appointment, please do get in touch to discuss, in confidence.

This rejuvenating treatment focuses on tension areas, so for anyone suffering from a sore achy neck and/or tight shoulders and back, this is the treatment for you. Using advanced techniques, I can work deeper into the muscles to relieve knots and ease away any tension.
Full Body
This nurturing bespoke treatment caters for your whole body, and can be booked as either a 60 minute treatment or 75 minutes which includes the abdomen. The treatment can be personalised to your specific needs, or it can allow you time to switch off from any stress and worries. This treatment is an excellent choice for ultimate relaxation and wellbeing.
Is Swedish Massage the same as Deep Tissue Massage?
Both of these massages are very popular and there are similarities. However, Swedish Massage is a much gentler experience, and is better suited to those who desire relaxation and tension relief.
Is Swedish Massage good for Lymphatic Drainage?
Yes, Swedish Massage is excellent for helping the body to drain the lymphatic system, which is essential to maintain the body’s natural defences.
How often can I have a Swedish Massage?
To keep flexible and limber, Swedish Massage is recommended on a regular basis, fortnightly or monthly depending on your lifestyle.
If, for example, you are suffering with severe neck problems; it may be recommended that you visit weekly initially, then this can be changed to fortnightly/monthly as appropriate.
Aftercare
Drink plenty of water following your treatment and avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours.
